Getting Started

Getting started is easy:

  1. Open HolidayMessenger and tap the Compose tab
  2. Write your message or select a template
  3. Tap Continue and select your recipients
  4. Review your personalized messages
  5. Tap Send Messages and confirm each one in the Messages app

Each recipient will receive their own individual message!

To create a template:

  1. Go to the Templates tab
  2. Tap the + Add Template button
  3. Give your template a name (e.g., "Christmas 2025")
  4. Write your message text
  5. Use {FullName} or {FirstName} for personalization
  6. Tap Save

Your template is now ready to use anytime!

Personalization variables automatically insert contact-specific information:

  • {FullName} - Inserts the contact's full name (e.g., "John Smith")
  • {FirstName} - Inserts only the first name (e.g., "John")

Example: "Happy Holidays, {FirstName}! 🎄" becomes "Happy Holidays, John! 🎄"

If a contact doesn't have a name, the variable is removed automatically.

Apple's security and privacy policies require explicit user confirmation for each text message sent from third-party apps. This ensures:

  • You have full control over what's being sent
  • Your messages can't be sent without your knowledge
  • No apps can spam or send messages on your behalf

Pro users can use the Shortcuts integration for faster sending, but still need to confirm each message through Apple's Messages app.

Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks:

Common fixes:

  1. Check the name: It must be exactly "HolidayMessengerPro" (case-sensitive, no spaces)
  2. Verify all actions: You need all 16 actions in the correct order
  3. Check "Show When Run": In the "Send Message" action, this should be OFF
  4. Update the URL scheme: URLs should use holidaymessenger:// not textpilot://

Troubleshooting

HolidayMessenger needs contacts access to let you select recipients. To fix:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Scroll to HolidayMessenger
  3. Tap Contacts
  4. Select Allow

Privacy Note: Your contacts never leave your device. We don't store, upload, or access your contact information.

This usually means contacts access wasn't granted. To fix:

  1. Check that contacts access is enabled (see above)
  2. Verify the contact has a name saved in your Contacts app
  3. Force quit and reopen HolidayMessenger

If the contact truly doesn't have a name, HolidayMessenger will remove the variable to avoid sending "{FullName}" in the actual message.

Pro tokens expire after 5 minutes for security. To avoid this:

  • Tap "Send All (Pro)" and let the Shortcut run immediately
  • Don't switch apps or wait after tapping the button
  • If sending to many recipients, consider splitting into smaller batches

If a token expires, simply tap "Send All (Pro)" again to generate a new one.

Try these steps:

  1. Force quit: Swipe up from app switcher and swipe up on HolidayMessenger
  2. Restart your iPhone: Hold power + volume button, slide to power off
  3. Check for updates: Open App Store → Updates → Update HolidayMessenger
  4. Reinstall: Delete app, restart iPhone, reinstall from App Store

Account & Billing

To purchase Pro:

  1. Open HolidayMessenger
  2. Tap the About tab
  3. Tap Upgrade to Pro
  4. Review the requirements (iOS 16+ and Shortcuts app)
  5. Complete the purchase through Apple's payment system

Pro is a one-time purchase of $3.99. No subscriptions!

Note: After purchasing, you'll need to download and install the HolidayMessengerPro Shortcut to use Pro features.

Yes! Your Pro purchase is tied to your Apple ID, not your device.

To restore Pro on a new device:

  1. Install HolidayMessenger from the App Store
  2. Sign in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase Pro
  3. Pro features will be automatically restored

Note: You'll need to recreate the Shortcut on each device.

All purchases are processed through Apple. To request a refund:

  1. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID
  3. Find your HolidayMessenger purchase
  4. Select "Request a Refund"
  5. Choose a reason and submit

Apple reviews refund requests on a case-by-case basis.
